A Contest for the best master’s diploma paper in the field of employment law – deadline extended 

KSP Law Firm and the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia would like to inform that the deadline to submit the diploma papers approved by supervisors has been extended to 30 November 2014.

We would like to invite students and graduates of the University of Silesia who are going to defend/have defended their diploma paper in the academic year of 2013 / 2014 in the Chair of Employment Law and Social, to take part in the contest. Remember — The MAIN AWARD is a monthly internship subject to remuneration, as well as a cash prize!

How to draft ToR? - Practical Guidelines 2014

We are pleased to present to you a guidebook dedicated to the basic principles of drafting Terms of Reference (ToR), i.e. a document of key significance in public contract award procedures. 

How to draft ToR? - practical guidelines 2014 are based not only on the current legal regulations on public procurement and the body of rulings issued by the National Chamber of Appeal, but - in the first place - on our experience in the area of public procurement, acquired when providing services to ordering parties and contractors. The Guidelines are intended for public law entities obliged to abide by the Public Procurement Law of 29 January 2004, and to contractors applying for contracts. 

With our long-term practice, we are aware of the most frequent errors made by ordering entities in the course of contract awarding procedures. In the guidelines we provide hints on how to avoid them, and thus also how to avoid ToR-related appeals. Errors in Terms of Reference which are not corrected at the right moment may lead to misunderstandings related to the subject of contract, or even to cancellation of the tendering procedure.

In the academic year of 2013 / 2014, KSP Law Firm and the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia would like to invite students and graduates of the University of Silesia who are going to defend/have defended their diploma paper in the Chair of Employment Law and Social Policy to take part in the contest for the best master’s thesis in the field of employment law. 

The contest is organized under the auspices of the Dean of Law and Administration Faculty at the University of Silesia. Those interested to take part in the contest are kindly requested to send to the Law Firm or to submit personally their theses approved by supervisors, to our Law Firm’s office by 31 July 2014 The theses are to be submitted in three paper copies and recorded on CD/DVD with signed Regulations, and completed Application Form available below in PDF format. 

The MAIN AWARD is a monthly internship subject to remuneration, as well as a cash prize.

7th All-Poland Tax Conference, 22-24 April 2014, Izbicko near Opole

We would like to invite you to participate in All-Poland Tax Conference "Customs Law and Excise Duty - Light and Shade after a Decade of Poland’s Membership in the European Union" to be administered in Izbicko by the Customs Chamber of Opole on 22-24 April 2014 During the Conference Elżbieta Lis is going to deliver a lecture on excise duty exemptions for entrepreneurs who are final gas buyers, using gas products for the purpose of their business.

MOBBING AND DISCRIMINATION IN THE WORKPLACE - Training, Katowice 21 February 2014

KSP Law Firm in cooperation with HRNews are pleased to invite you to a training session to be delivered as part of the HRNews Academy,  intended to develop the abilities to identity, prevent and respond to discrimination and mobbing, addressed to persons whose job is to manage the work of others. The training will be conducted by experts in the field of the employment law:  Piotr Krupa and Dawid Mielcarski.

During the training, the attendees will also learn about the legal consequences of mobbing in a team, the principles of legal liability of the employer for mobbing and discrimination and the types of claims accruing to employees. The attendees will also have an opportunity to consider situations in which mobbing was used or the principles of equal treatment of employees were violated, and the effects thereof. 

The training is targeted to management and managers, human resources specialists and all employees engaged in the management processes. The invitation is also addressed to those who create regulations related to personnel processes and take decisions in this respect.

Polish-British discussion about the future of water supply and sanitation sector, 18 February 2014, Warsaw

On 18 February 2014 Tomasz Srokosz is going to take part in a Polish-British debate regarding the future of the water supply and sanitation sector. The debate is organized by the UK Trade and Investment Department of the British Embassy in Warsaw and will be held in the Embassy building at 12 Kawalerii Street. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the challenges faced by the industry and the possible cooperation between Poland and the UK in the water supply and sanitation sector at top level of administration services and businesses. Expert from our Law Firm: Tomasz Srokosz was invited to take part in 3rd International Waste Management Forum SOSEXPO 2014, to be held on 5–6 February 2014 in Warsaw, in the Palace of Culture and Science. 

On 5 February 2014, during the 3rd Session of the Forum: Tomasz Srokosz is going to deliver a presentation entitled „PPP and Concession a Chance for Innovative Waste Management” and they will participate in a debate on PPP project financing. The discussion will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development, the Province Environmental Protection and Water Management Fund as well as Bank PeKaO SA, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and Bank for Environmental Protection.
